Swarco’s state-of-the-art intelligent traffic signal system, is completely controlled using artificial intelligence, and integrates a number of technologies into a well-designed and robust whole.
The installation also showcases the COMBIA lantern, which offers different application and integration options. Among other things the integration of SWARCO’s module ‘Safelight’, that can reflect either a green or red light beam into the ground as extra security for people who look down at their mobile phone while crossing the road. Additionally, SWARCO have implemented several accessibility features allowing disabled road users to cross safely and without risk of misinterpreting signalling.
‘SMART AI’ is a novel algorithm that decodes traffic and that in just a few hours can guide traffic flow around the city, to reduce pollution. It can prioritize different types of vehicles such as trucks, busses and bikes, depending on the city’s needs. With acoustic sensors, it is also possible to locate the direction of emergency vehicles and prioritize them.
Also, an integrated ‘Airdec’ module provides accurate measurements of climate, weather, and pollution and is fully integrated into the traffic light head, making installation simple. All the masts and poles in SWARCO’s installation are made from recycled aluminium.
SWARCO’s MyCity web platform, displays the data from the various sensors and devices, allowing traffic planners to redirect road users, monitor performance and make smart decisions about traffic and the environment.
